Original assignment to designer

“We'd like to have a fairly comprehensive set so plugin developers can re-use the core system's icons. That way we'll hopefully create a fairly homogeneous experience for the user. The icons for these concepts should be in 32×32 format but if at all possible, I believe it would be very handy to have 16×16 versions as well.”

The icons should cover all of Wolf's core concepts and the necessary variations thereon. Here's a list of them.

Wolf's core objects / concepts are:

  • Settings
  • Documentation
  • Page (of content)
  • Snippet (of content, can be placed on a page / is partial page)
  • Layout (the HTML structure that's used to display a page)
  • File
  • File of type: Image, HTML, XML, PHP, Archive (zip, tar.gz, etc)
  • Folder
  • Email
  • Upload
  • Download
  • RSS feed
  • Comment
  • User
  • Group of users / Role
  • Permission (singular, like “view” or “write”)
  • Plugin
  • Calendar
  • Tab (a page can have “tabs” or “page parts” that can hold extra content)

Necessary variations on the above:

  • Add, edit & delete Page
  • Add, edit & delete Snippet
  • Add, edit & delete Layout
  • Add, edit & delete File
  • Rename File
  • Add, edit & delete Folder
  • Rename Folder
  • Add, edit & delete Download
  • Add, edit & delete User
  • Add, edit & delete Group of Users / Role
  • Add, edit & delete Permission
  • Add, edit & delete Comment
  • New comment notifier
  • Add, edit & delete Plugin
  • Enable, disable & uninstall Plugin
  • Add, edit & delete Setting
  • Add, edit & delete Calendar
  • Add, edit & delete Tab (currently we just use a simple + and - sign which works fine)
